We are currently recruiting individuals to become trainers for the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development course.
Recreation PEI offers the PHCD course 2-3 times per year for organizations leading youth programs.
To become a trainer, you must attend a 2.5 day training course in Riverview, NB from October 16-18, 2019. The deadline to register is October 7th- Application Form.
Organizations may choose to have a staff member become trained. This person could then lead PHCD trainings for the organization when necessary. In this case, the organization is responsible for all costs related to the training.
Costs include: workshop fee ($595 plus GST), mileage, bridge, hotel (2 or 3 nights), meals (lunches are included in the workshop fee)
Individuals who are interested in becoming a High Five trainer, who are not being sponsored by their work may apply to Recreation PEI for sponsorship. Those sponsored by Recreation PEI will receive funding for 50% of the workshop fee as well as mileage and hotel costs. (Candidates may be asked to ride share and room share in order to be eligible for this support.)
In return, the individual must run a minimum of three PHCD clinics by June 2021, pending requests. These clinics are generally held during weekdays. Trainers are paid $225 to deliver each PHCD course.
To apply to Recreation PEI for sponsorship to the course- please send an email to us outlining your experience working with children’s programs as well as any experience in delivering course/trainings.
