Recreation PEI is hosting the East Coast Arena Training (ECAT) Level 2 course at the Eliyahu Wellness Centre in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island on August 13th & 14th, 2026.

The ECAT Level 2 course covers more advanced information of arena operations with practical training in the core areas and an emphasis on energy efficiency. Ideal for more experienced operators who want to expand their knowledge base and assume more responsibilities. Participants must have completed ECAT Basic Course (Level 1) to participate in this Level 2 Course.
This year, Recreation PEI is partnering with the Global Venue Institute (GVI) on a pilot program to provide access to the Level 1: Introduction to Ice Making course online. Participants can register for the course through GVI and use code RECPEI25 to receive 25% off the registration fee. We also plan to offer a one-day, in-person ice-making session in the fall to provide hands-on learning opportunities. For those who have already completed Level 1, a discounted registration option for the in-person session will be available. Additional details will be shared at a later date.

12:00-1:00 – Lunch
1:00-4:00 – Refrigeration
Day 2:
9:00-12:00 – Ice Making and Maintenance
12:00-1:00 – Lunch
1:00-4:00 – Ice Making and Maintenance
* Coffee & Tea and light snacks will be provided throughout the day. You are encouraged to bring your own reusable water bottle. There will be a daily one-hour lunch break (on your own) – lunch will not be provided.
