SIDELINED: THE COLOUR OF THE GAME is a powerful 45-minute documentary that explores the systemic barriers faced by First Nations, Métis, Inuit, Black, Racialized, and Religious Minority participants in Canadian sport. Funded by a grant from the Government of Canada (Department of Canadian Heritage), the film features personal narratives and expert insights, and highlights the urgent need for systemic change and inclusive policies in sport at all levels.
Following the screening, a local panel will discuss the main themes of the film as well as sharing their thoughts on how to build a more inclusive sport system on PEI. Panellists will be announced soon.
All Island athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, facility operators, and fans are invited to attend. Book your tickets here.
The documentary was produced by Anti-Racism in Sport Canada, a national organization dedicated to advancing anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and belonging across Canadian sport and recreation. Through education, research, policy development, organizational support, and community engagement, they work alongside organizations to create environments where everyone can participate safely, contribute fully, and thrive.
This event is a collaboration between Recreation PEI, Sport PEI, and the Holland College Sport & Recreation Management program.
